Phaplu - Lukla Trek

To avoid the long bus drive to the original trailhead of Jiri we fly to Phaplu to begin our trek to reach in the most beautiful Solu-Khumbu. We cross the Trakshindo La before descending towards the river of the Dudh Kosi. We follow the "milk river" known as 'Dudhakoshi' north through terraced hillsides and small villages, and you should yourself fitness to make the ascent to Namche Bazaar. The Khumbu region have the mountain views of Kwangde, Thamserku, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, the "horse saddle" of Kanteiga and the summit of Everest itself. We need ample time for acclimatization and exploration of the area in preparation for the ascent of Kala Patthar (5545m). A down departure from Lobuche is seen wending our ways through glacial moraine until the peak comes into view. Finally we reach the summit to be rewarded with the famous view of the south face of Everest. We can return via a different routes through Pangboche to Lukla for so many other spectacular views and then fly back to Kathmandu.
