Darjeeling hills are mostly inhabited by Sherpas, Lepchas, Nepalese, Tibetans, Sikkimese and Bhutanese. Through the lush green hills of Darjeeling, climbs special railways affectionately called TOY TRAIN or FLOWER-PICKING TRAIN covering a distance of 50 miles to Darjeeling in 8 hours.

Day 01

Fly Kathmandu / Bhadrapur (1 hr) - scenic drive to Gantok (3-4 hr.) - hotel

Day 02

Full day sightseeing in Gantok with Rumtek monastery - hotel

Day 03

Excursion tour to Phoning monastery (38 km in north Sikkim)

Day 04

Scenic drive to Pemayangtse monastery via beautiful temi tea estate (west Sikkim) - hotel

Day 05

Scenic drive to Darjeeling. PM: sightseeing in Darjeeling - hotel

Day 06

Visit Ghoom monastery, on the way back enjoy a short ride on the famous Darjeeling toy train-hotel

Day 07

Picturesque drive to Bagdogra to fly to onward destination or to Bhadrapur to fly back to Kathmandu-transfer to your hotel.

Itinerary

Day 01

Arrive Kathmandu - Welcome Meeting, Assistance & transfer to Hotel - evening walk to old Kathmandu Durbar Square

Day 02

Full day sightseeing to Pashupatinath & Boudhanath & Patan city

Day 03

Fly Kathmandu to Biratnagar (50 minutes) - Scenic drive to Kakarvitta (Border of Nepal-India) Darjeeling (3-4 hrs.) - Hotel New Elgin

Day 04

Visit Tea Garden & Tibetan Refugee centre with a pony tour to Himalayan Mountain institute

Day 05

Sightseeing tour to Ghoom Monastery and on way back to hotel enjoy a short train rid on the famous Darjeeling toy-train

Day 06

Scenic drive to Pemayangtse - Hotel Mt. Pandim

Day 07

After sightseeing including Pemayangtse Monastery, picturesque drive to Gantok Hotel Tibet

Day 08

Visit Sikkim Orchid Sanctuary, Institute of Tibetology & Rumtek Monastery

Day 09

Scenic drive back to Biratnagar and fly to Kathmandu & transfer to hotel

Day 10

AM: visit Old City Bhaktapur. PM: free for independent activities.

Day 11

Free until departure time for airport to fly to onward destination.

Travel Information:
Tour booking with full payment should reach us at least 15 days in a advance along with full passport details. There will be a cancellation charge of 50% for confirmed booking up to 7 days prior to departure for the journey. No refund thereafter even for NO_SHOWS & DELAYED ARRIVALS due to whatsoever regions.

Visa Regulation:
One moth visa for Sikkim & Darjeeling can be obtained from any Indian Embassy or Consulate abroad. The Sikkim permit with Indian visa can also be obtained in Kathmandu, Nepal within one day with a condition that the client should be available in Kathmandu, Nepal visa can be obtained at the airport upon arrival.

February - May, October - December

Climate:
(Spring Feb/Mar/April 20 C - 25 C. Summer May/June/July 23C. - 29 C. Autumn Aug/Sep/October 16 C. - 28 C. Winter Nov/Dec/January 07 C. - 14 C. (Above temperatures are based on day ones)

Clothing:
In general, heavy woollen wears are required in winter. However, a warm Jampur & a jacket are always advised due to the unpredictable nature of the weather.

For the trek purpose, following items are recommended: Down Jacket, Woollen Sweaters, Cotton/Woollen Shirts, Woollen Trousers, Long Johns, Raincoat, Comfortable trekking shoes, Sun Goggles, Sun Hat, Warm Gloves, Suntan Lotion, Water Bottle, Chap Stick, Medical Kit.

Risks & Liability:
Alpine Everest Guides Nepal Shall always put its all efforts in Making your journey smooth and pleasant. However, as be responsible for any charge of cancellation of programmes due to any unavoidable circumstances such as road blockade, flood, snow, unrest, cancellation of flight, delay arrivals, sickness or accidents. Any extra cost incurring there of shall be borne by the clients. So, it is most advisable that clients to have full insurance against medical and personal accidents. Cancellation insurance is also highly recommended.
